    Tilers in the Murraylands

The Murraylands, Mallee and Coorong region runs from the River Murray towns of Murray Bridge and Mannum east through dryland farming country to Pinnaroo near the Victorian border, and south to Meningie and the Coorong lagoon. It sits one to three hours east of Adelaide. Murray Bridge is the main centre. Homes range from older stone and brick cottages and post-war brick houses to riverfront shacks, farmhouses on broadacre properties and new estates on the edge of town. Commercial work includes motels, caravan parks, pubs and food processing sites.

    About the region

    Tiling in the Murraylands

SA Tiling Pro is based in Adelaide and services all of South Australia, including the Murraylands, the Mallee and the Coorong. Travel is arranged as part of the job, so a bathroom in Mannum or a farmhouse floor near Lameroo is quoted and scheduled the same way as work in the suburbs. Quotes are free and carry no obligation. We have more than 20 years of tiling experience and are fully licensed and insured. Typical regional jobs include bathroom renovations, kitchen splashbacks, floor tiling, alfresco areas and waterproofing.

Murray Bridge has older stone and brick cottages near the town centre, post-war brick homes and newer estates on its outskirts, while the river towns from Blanchetown down to Mannum are known for holiday shacks and riverfront houses. The Mallee towns and surrounding farms are mostly single-storey brick and stone homes and farmhouses, many of them decades old.

    Local tiling considerations

    • Hot summers and thermal movement

Summer temperatures across the Murraylands and Mallee regularly pass 35 degrees. Alfresco and large floor areas need properly placed movement joints in line with AS 3958.1, and adhesive and grout have to be managed so they do not skin over or cure too fast in the heat.

    • River flood recovery work

The 2022-23 River Murray flood inundated shacks and homes along the river from Blanchetown through Mannum to Murray Bridge. Retiling a flood-affected wet area means stripping back to a sound, dry substrate and waterproofing to AS 3740 before any new tiles go down.

    • Hard and salty water

Many rural properties in the Mallee run on bore, tank or pipeline water, which can be hard or saline. Mineral build-up marks grout and tiles over time, so sealed or epoxy grout in showers and laundries is worth considering.

    • Salt air around the lakes and Coorong

Around Meningie, Lake Albert and the Coorong, salt-laden wind works on exposed surfaces year round. Outdoor tiles and fixings need to suit a coastal environment, and pool surrounds and wet outdoor areas should use slip-rated tiles classified under AS 4586.

    Common projects here

    • • Alfresco and outdoor tiling for new estate homes
    • • Kitchen splashbacks in Mallee farmhouses
    • • Amenities blocks for caravan parks and motels
    • • Floor tiling and regrouting in riverfront holiday homes

    Services

Tiling services available in the Murraylands

Do you travel out to Mallee towns like Lameroo and Pinnaroo, or only as far as Murray Bridge?
We service all of South Australia, and that includes the far Mallee. Travel is arranged as part of the job and factored into your free quote. Pinnaroo is close to three hours from Adelaide, so we plan those jobs in blocks of days rather than daily trips.
How far ahead should I book a regional tiling job?
Regional work takes a little more planning than a suburban job because materials, travel and site access are organised in advance. Get in touch as early as you can once you have plans or a rough scope, and we will confirm a start date when we quote. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.
My river shack was flooded in 2022-23. Can the old tiles just be regrouted?
Usually not. Floodwater gets behind tiles and into the substrate, and the waterproofing under a flooded bathroom or laundry can no longer be relied on. We strip flood-affected wet areas back, let the structure dry out, waterproof to AS 3740 and then retile.
Do you charge extra for travel?
For metropolitan Adelaide, no. For regional and remote work we factor travel into the written quote up front so there are no surprises, and we group regional jobs where we can to keep costs down.
Can you quote from photos and measurements?
For straightforward jobs, yes. Send photos and rough measurements with the quote form and we will give you an indicative price, then confirm it on site before work starts.
