    Tilers in Adelaide's Eastern Suburbs

Adelaide's Eastern Suburbs sit between the CBD and the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges, 5 to 20 minutes east of the city. The region takes in 59 suburbs across postcodes 5064 to 5076, from Hackney and Norwood near the parklands out to Athelstone and Castambul at the edge of the Hills. It is one of Adelaide's most established residential areas. Bluestone villas, character bungalows and 1960s brick homes share streets with new two-storey rebuilds, townhouses and small commercial strips.

    About the region

    Tiling in Adelaide's Eastern Suburbs

SA Tiling Pro is based in Adelaide, so the Eastern Suburbs are local work for us. No regional travel needs to be arranged. Quotes are free and carry no obligation, and we prefer to quote on site so we can check floors, walls and existing waterproofing before pricing. Typical jobs here include bathroom renovations in older homes, kitchen splashbacks, floor tiling for rebuilds and extensions, and alfresco areas. We are fully licensed and insured, with more than 20 years of experience, and work Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.

Norwood, Kensington, St Peters and College Park hold some of Adelaide's best-kept Victorian bluestone villas and cottages, while Burnside, Tusmore and Linden Park are known for interwar bungalows and 1950s and 1960s cream-brick homes. Further out, Campbelltown, Paradise, Newton and Athelstone are dominated by 1960s to 1980s brick homes, many now being replaced by two-storey rebuilds and townhouses.

    Local tiling considerations

    • Wet areas in heritage villas

Bluestone villas and bungalows in Norwood, Kensington and St Peters often have timber floors, uneven substrates and bathrooms added long after the house was built. We level and prepare the floor and waterproof to AS 3740 before any tile goes down.

    • Reactive clay and movement joints

Much of the eastern suburbs sits on reactive clay that swells in wet winters and shrinks over dry summers, and the slab moves with it. We place movement joints at the spacings set out in AS 3958.1 so tiles do not crack or drum when the ground shifts.

    • Sloping foothills blocks

Homes in Waterfall Gully, Mount Osmond, Auldana and Athelstone often sit on sloped land with terraces, balconies and retaining walls. Outdoor tiling here needs proper falls, drainage and a membrane installed to AS 4654, with tiles chosen for slip resistance under AS 4586.

    • Knock-down rebuilds and infill

Campbelltown, Paradise, Hectorville and Tranmere have a steady flow of knock-down rebuilds, two-storey homes and townhouse developments. We work to builders' programs and are set up to tile several bathrooms, laundries and living areas across a build without holding up other trades.

    Common projects here

    • • Bathroom and ensuite renovations in bluestone villas and bungalows
    • • Full-home floor tiling for knock-down rebuilds in Campbelltown and Paradise
    • • Kitchen splashbacks in renovated 1960s brick homes
    • • Alfresco and terrace tiling on sloping foothills blocks
    • • Regrouting and tile repairs in mid-century bathrooms
    • • Shopfront and cafe floor tiling along The Parade

Tiling services available in Adelaide's Eastern Suburbs

Do you cover every suburb in the eastern suburbs, or just the main ones?
We cover all 59 suburbs in postcodes 5064 to 5076, from Hackney and College Park through to Athelstone and Castambul. It is all metropolitan work for us, so there is no regional travel to arrange. Quotes are free, and site visits are booked during our normal hours, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.
Can you tile a bathroom in an old villa or bungalow?
Yes. Older homes in Norwood, Kensington and St Peters usually need more preparation than a new build, because floors are timber or uneven and the original wet area was never waterproofed. We prepare the substrate, waterproof to AS 3740 and lay the tiles so the finished room suits the age of the house.
My house is in the foothills. Does that change how you tile?
It can. Blocks in Waterfall Gully, Mount Osmond, Auldana and Athelstone are often sloped and sit on reactive clay, so we allow for movement joints inside and proper falls and drainage on outdoor areas. Where a tiled area sits over a room below, such as a balcony, we install a membrane to AS 4654 before tiling.
Do you charge extra for travel?
For metropolitan Adelaide, no. For regional and remote work we factor travel into the written quote up front so there are no surprises, and we group regional jobs where we can to keep costs down.
Can you quote from photos and measurements?
For straightforward jobs, yes. Send photos and rough measurements with the quote form and we will give you an indicative price, then confirm it on site before work starts.
