    Tilers in Adelaide's Northern Suburbs

Adelaide's Northern Suburbs and the Adelaide Plains run from Salisbury and Elizabeth, 20 to 50 minutes north of the CBD, through the old stone town of Gawler and out onto the farming and market garden country towards Two Wells. It is one of the fastest-growing parts of South Australia. Older suburbs, many built by the Housing Trust in the 1950s and 60s, sit beside new estates on former paddocks, and the plains carry farmhouses, greenhouses and rural-living blocks. Builders and homeowners here need a reliable tiler.

    Tiling in Adelaide's Northern Suburbs

SA Tiling Pro is based in Adelaide and services all of South Australia. Salisbury, Elizabeth and Gawler are a short drive from our base, and for the outer plains and coastal settlements we arrange travel as part of the quote. Quotes are free and carry no obligation. We are fully licensed and insured, with more than 20 years of tiling experience. Typical jobs include bathroom renovations in older homes, floor tiling for new estate builds, alfresco areas and commercial fit-outs. We work Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.

Elizabeth and the older parts of Salisbury were built largely by the South Australian Housing Trust from the 1950s onward, with brick veneer homes from the 1970s and 80s in the suburbs around them. New estate homes on concrete slabs are going up on the northern fringe around Munno Para, Gawler has stone cottages and villas from the 1800s, and the plains carry farmhouses, greenhouses and rural-living blocks.

    Local tiling considerations

    • Reactive clay and movement joints

Much of the Adelaide Plains sits on clay soils that swell and shrink with the seasons, and floor tiles laid without allowance for that movement will crack. We follow AS 3958.1 on movement joints, use flexible adhesives and allow new slabs time to cure before tiling.

    • Hot summers and outdoor tiling

Summer days on the plains often top 35 degrees, so alfresco and pool surround tiles expand and contract more than indoor work. We space movement joints to suit, favour lighter colours where people walk barefoot, and use slip-rated tiles classified under AS 4586 around pools.

    • Older Housing Trust bathrooms

Bathrooms in 1950s and 60s homes around Elizabeth and Salisbury were built before modern waterproofing standards and rarely have a membrane behind the tiles. Every wet area we strip is re-waterproofed to AS 3740 before the first tile goes down.

    • New estate volume work

Builders in the growth areas around Munno Para, Angle Vale and Two Wells need consistent finishes across many homes and tight slots between other trades. We handle full-house floor, bathroom and splashback packages and schedule around plasterers, cabinet makers and painters.

    Services

Tiling services available in Adelaide's Northern Suburbs

Do you cover the outer plains and coastal shacks, like Two Wells, Mallala and Thompson Beach?
Yes. We service all of South Australia, and the Adelaide Plains are well within our normal range. For the outer townships and coastal settlements we arrange travel and include it in the free quote, so there are no surprises.
How quickly can you get out to quote a job in Gawler or Elizabeth?
We book site visits during our working hours, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and the northern suburbs are a short drive for us. Tell us what the job involves when you call and we will arrange a time that suits. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.
My floor tiles cracked along a straight line. Is that the clay soil?
Often, yes. Much of the northern plains sits on reactive clay that moves with the seasons, and a slab that flexes will crack rigid tile work above it. We inspect the slab, set movement joints where AS 3958.1 calls for them and lay with a flexible adhesive, which gives the new floor room to move without cracking.
Do you charge extra for travel?
For metropolitan Adelaide, no. For regional and remote work we factor travel into the written quote up front so there are no surprises, and we group regional jobs where we can to keep costs down.
Can you quote from photos and measurements?
For straightforward jobs, yes. Send photos and rough measurements with the quote form and we will give you an indicative price, then confirm it on site before work starts.
